This section is only recommended for established barbers wanting to learn new skills or learn different techniques, if you are starting out then we highly recommend our full Master Class.
What you will need:
Curly Hair- If your hair texture is soft, between curly and straight start at Step 1.
Medium Hair- If you hair is not too thick and tough but also not too soft again start at Step 1.
Course Hair- This is thick, tough and tighly curled so it is advised that you use a texturing kit like sporting wave and follow intructions carefully After this you should start with Step 2.
Step 1
Make sure hair is dry after using a conditioning shampoo.
Step 2
Apply small amounts of dax wax or murreys to the hair.
Step 3
Put towel in hot water and wring out well.
Step 4
Place the towel on the head for about 1-2 minutes. Press towel on hair meting the wax into the hair. Remove towel.
Step 5
Start brushing hair from the crown and brush with the grain in all directions so the hair grows evenly all the way round.
Step 6
Put on your doo-rag or wave cap.
Step 7
Preferrably repeat this process 1-2 times a day. Especially before going to bed.
Good Luck and feel free to send in pictures of your new waves!
Whether you want your waves all the way round or dissapearing into a nice bold fade it is important that you look after your hair. Some people are blessed and their waves come naturally without much effort. However, if you struggle with your waves you might want to consider some of these tips and tricks to get the best waves possible.
* Warm water
* Towel
* Clean razor
* Shaving foam/oil
* Badger brush
* Alcohol or tea tree oil
* Bump cream
Follow these simple steps to get rid of your razor bumps:
If you can try not to shave everyday and if need be use a clean electric trimmer in between shaves.
Always keep you face as clean as possible. Exfoliating is probably the best way to do this.
Step 3:
Before shaving try to steam you face to open the pores. This will allow your hair to be cut closer to the skin for a better shave. The best way to do this is to wrap a warm towel around the area ready to be shaved.
Apply moisturizing shaving cream with a badger brush that doesn't irrate your skin and let it lie for 1 minute to soften the skin.
Use small, smooth even strokes in the direction of your hair, constantly rinsing the blade under warm water.
Rinse your face with cold water to close the pores.
It is important to apply small amounts of tea tree oil or rubbing alcohol on the shaved areas to avoid any unwanted infection or excess bumps.
Razor Bumps are very common amongst men with curly facial hair. The reason for this is because most people just don't know the best ways to shave to avoid bumps. If you have curly facial hair you may be a victim of these hairs curling back on themselves and growing into your skin causing bumps. Here are a few simple steps to avoid this from happening.
Don't concentrate too much on finding new clients; concentrate on the ones you already have. Make them feel like a king when they are sat in THEIR chair. How can you do this?
For new customers
For existing customers
All customers
Environment
For any barber to make money you need to build clientele. Too many websites complicate the simple skills needed to build a clientele, they turn it into a complex mission that could take years. It might not happen over night but follow our Master Class and these simple steps below and you will have clients knocking at your door even after hours then you can just watch the money roll in!
Many barbers stress that you have to go out a find new customers, hand out flyer and business cards etc. This is all well and good if you are starting a barbershop. However, here we are concentrating solely on building clientele and that happens for free right in the barbershop chair!
Step 1 (wax only)
If you use gel instead of wax then you can skip step 1. If you do use wax then apply the hair dryer in an attempt to melt the wax on the hair before moving onto step 2....
Immediately after drying the hair. Apply washing liquid to dry hair and gently massage into the hair for a couple of minutes.
Soak hair in warm water (warmer the better) scrub hair with the full palms of your hand for one minute.
Scrub hair with a clean dry towel until dry.
If you still have a little bit of wax or gel left in your hair then repeat once again, for a soft, dry clean head of hair!
If you have problems washing out gel and wax from your hair. Don't worry. Whether your hair is straight, short, curly, long, wavy or afro. We have the solutions right here! It is a common problem and can be quite embarrasing when you go to the barbershop and the barber can't brush the comb through or get greasy hands. However,below are some of the simplest of steps to get your hair as clean as possible.
Example Price List

******All the prices above exclude tips******
Ok, so this is a very basic price list and you might want to charge for different hair cuts at different prices. Now we have established a price list we can determine a minimum weekly, monthly and yearly salary. All these salaries will be based on 15 customers a day which is an incredibly modest amount. If you read the Building a clientele section and have followed the Barbering Course you should be expecting a minimum of 25 customers a day (almost doubling that to 50 a day at weekends)
Time Scale Number of haircuts (20p/d) Minimum Salary
Day (6 d/w) 15 $150.00
Week 90 $900.00
Month 360 $3600.00
Year 4320 $43,2000
The results we have here are very modest and this yearly salary of $43,200.00 is the very minimum any good barber should expect to receive, there are barbers out there that easily double this salary. However, you must pay special attention to your customers and quality hair cuts to receive this modest amount of money, and the best way to do this is by learning the easy way through our free material here Building a clientele and also check out our Barbering Course. After watching the course it will be time for you to spend the big money on whatever you want! If you are already a barber and you are not earning this money then you might want to check out Barbering Lessons to see if you can add to your price list and advance your skills even more.
So you have downloaded the Master Class course and your now the best barber in your area. How much money can you make? Well, this is very hard to tell and it all depends on location, and the area that you live in. However we are going to give you a MINIMUM target, and if you feel you can charge extra in your area then go ahead and MAKE YOUR MONEY!
